Vying for power among vampires is not unusual in paranormal romances. Sheriffs in U.S territories do so in Sookie Stackhouse novels.

Joey Hill’s Vampire Queen series and Lynn Viehl’s Darkyn and Lords of the Darkyn series’ have a more serious tone. Reading both authors, I found they also dealt with the politics of vampire society; including hierarchy.

Christine Feehan’s Dark series and Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter novels both create a world of vampires/ immortals. Character development is very important, but it doesn’t slow the storyline, action proceeding at a good pace. Most, if not all the novels focus on relationships between characters.

Following reading Lynsay Sands’ Argeneau series, I found another light-hearted vampire romance in Kerrelyn Spark’s paranormal Love at Stake series.

Watch for the next installment focusing on paranormal romances!
